Onshore Gas Exploration EIA, Bahrain

Environment Arabia undertook an EIA for a proposed Deep Gas Well during 2013 which involved drilling an exploratory well approximately 5 km deep in the Awali Oil & Gas field. The drilling operation was the first of its kind in Bahrain to include hydraulic fracking. Extensive consultations were conducted with pertinent Government bodies. Issues covered in the EIA included air quality, noise, soil & groundwater contamination, terrestrial ecology, chemical usage and handling, waste management, traffic & access and tourism & recreation. An Environmental Management Plan was prepared for the project highlighting potential impacts together with the recommended mitigation strategy and monitoring requirements.
