Environment Arabia’s Kate Elsworth has recently qualified as a LEED Green Associate after attending a training course and passing an examination on 4 June 2015 administered by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBIC).

The LEED Green Associate is one of the professional credentials under the LEED (Leadership in Environment and Energy Design) certification process developed by the US Green Building Council that is awarded to professionals who “have a documented, up-to-date understanding of the most current green building principles and practices, and are committed to their professional future”.

LEED is basically a Green Building certification program wherein property developments (either being newly constructed or going through a major renovation) are assessed under a particular rating system with the overall aim of environmental responsibility and sustainability. The rating systems includes building design and construction, interior design and construction, building operation and maintenance, neighbourhood development, homes.
